Hi there, I’m Kim.
I am a Graphic Designer based on the Gold Coast, Australia, and I hold a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication from Monash University, Melbourne. The challenge of visual problem solving and being creative is behind my passion for design. I enjoy the process of getting to the core of a brief, and then taking the project beyond all expectations.
My employment history has given me an all rounded background in branding, advertising, book publishing and print production. I am able to work to existing style guides or to create new identities and concepts, even helping clients conceive an appropriate business name. I always do my research on the client’s business and their industry before beginning to jot down even the first sketch. This is because I believe there is always a new, creative solution to the project.
Travel has played a big part in my life. I have lived in 4 countries other than my native home Australia; Japan, Portugal, Colombia and Germany. This has made me adaptable and I appreciate the challenges of going outside my comfort zone. My life experiences and emersion into other cultures visually, linguistically and historically has enhanced my ability to communicate through design.
My inspiration comes from pop culture in film, TV and the street, which is offset by my interest in art history and historical events. When I am not at my computer designing I like to paint, go jog, practice yoga, catch a movie or read a novel.
If you would like to chat with me about possible projects or would just like to say, “hi” please feel free to contact me.
